Plummer Building: Offices, Tours & Architecture
Adorned with bronze doors weighing two tons and marble floors imported from around the world, this iconic symbol of Mayo Clinic is now a designated National Historic Landmark. Named for Henry S. Plummer, M.D., it was once the home of all medical facilities and an extensive library on the Mayo Clinic grounds. Today, the Plummer Building remains an integral part of Mayo Clinic, accommodating many administrative, academic and support functions. At night, the bell tower lights up the Rochester skyline. During the holiday season, the south facing wall illuminates with colored lights. Tour the historical suite and see artifacts from Dr. Will and Charlie Mayo, view the marble lobby and Bas-relief caricatures along the walls of this impressive architectural addition to Minnesota.
