Dear Kahler Representive,I am ...

Dear Kahler Representive,I am emailing in regard to my stay. …MoreDear Kahler Representive,I am emailing in regard to my stay. First I'd like to say that, the room accommodations, were adequate and roomy. When I was looking for a place to stay in Rochester, close in proximity to the Mayo Clinic. I decided on The Kahler Inn and Suites, after checking online and comparing, not only prices, but also location and amenities. In speaking with the front desk to see what if any discounts were available for patients, the prices I was quoted in that regard; were the same as what I found online at the various travel websites. I find it disheartening that something is being sold as discounted for Mayo patients when it truly is not. The issues that prompted my email is that, a few of the justifications for the increased price of KIS, as compared to the other Kahler options, were the "Free" breakfast and the Free parking. In regard to the "Free" breakfast :This was not a "get what you pay for" meal. Considering the price of a standard room and the atmosphere, that was otherwise pretty good, the breakfast was more than lacking. Here are the issues:1- Inconsistent info- time in guest info not the same as what desk staff had. 2- By 6:45 am the eggs were gone, save a few dry rubbery bites. 3- the hash brown potato rounds and were barely above room temp. 4- both the orange and the apple juice were very watered down. 5- the industrial toaster was not hot enough to toast and there was a line of people who's bagels were stuck until one of the patrons moved the tray from underneath (safety issue) 6- the donuts were substandard bakery at best, that looked like the cheap gas station boxed donuts. Also, the donuts and the blueberry muffins had something spilled on them as some of them were wet. 7- the breakfast nook area was very very cold, even with long pants and long sleeves. And finally, the overarching problem was that, only 45 minutes into breakfast service there was no staff to be found. None. There were about 15-20 people there. A few people had even peeked into the "staff only" door- to no avail. As I sat down, frustrated, after literally trying to find something other than cold cereal to eat, I began to call the front desk to voice my concern and two staff casually walked in with coffee in hand (their coffee). Clearly they felt the need to take a break at the same time, leaving the "breakfast nook" unattended. When several of us expressed the lacking food, among other things, they barely shrugged and said they knew and there would be food. The kitchen was clearly not on task. It was at least another 10 minutes before two giant bowls of eggs and hash brown were rolled in. It is clear to me that between the kitchen and the buffet staff, they wanted to do the least work possible. Smaller portions to put out and more frequently would provide your guests with at least warm/fresh food. It's no wonder the eggs were awful. This chafing dishes are not meant to warm that much food for long periods. And, they should never be empty, let alone for the 20 mins we were there. You would be better off not offering breakfast than to offer such a sub-par breakfast. When you are paying for a hotel between 139-200.00/night (other than the military discount), and it say FREE breakfast, it should be substantial, available and hot. I actually needed to go and get breakfast at CB3, after my appointment, because is the debacle described. The food there was decent, but there were no combos to speak of so, to get a full breakfast it is close to 20.00/pp. The saving grace there was my server- Michael. If KIS wants to be high end, then it should be consistent and high quality including service. It is unfortunate that the budget hotels offer a better breakfast than that of Kahler. Today, I am one of many sorely disappointed guests. Considering the reasons that most guests stay here, it's a sad commentary on customer service. One dissatisfied guest, Bonita Ferr

Breakfast is something they need to seriously work on. Everything was dried out, they served maple syrup but no waffles... something that was supposed to be meat?? The coffee was basically just hot water. Rooms are ok, somewhat outdated but beds were comfy enough and the room was decently clean

The room is an average hotel room. Well maintained and comfortable. The staff are wonderful and extremely helpful. The hotel is in close proximity to the Mayo Clinic and there is a sub shop and coffee bar attached to the lobby
